Samantha is a PhD candidate at the Augmented Human Lab (AHLab) within the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, The University of Auckland. She is also a Visiting Researcher at NUS HCI Lab and Junior Researcher at Mercari Inc. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Engineering Product Development, Electrical Engineering) at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). She was formerly an undergraduate researcher at SUTD-Massachusetts Institute of Technology International Design Center.
Her PhD topic is on “Augmenting Human Prospective Memory through Cognition-Aware Technologies”. Her work explores the use “biosignals” or “physiological signals” (natural body signals and responses), such as heart-rate variability, skin conductance and eye-movements to peer deeper into users’ internal context and cognitive states, providing just-in-time delivery of memory interventions.
